NonEngLangInPicasaWebAlbums

Users who have their Picasa Web Albums language set to a language other than “English (United States)” will not see their albums of photos uploaded through Blogger.

Friday, March 16, 2007

If your are posting photos through the Picasa application, you may see your photos each appearing in individual albums. We are working to correct this problem. The best work around is to go to the blogger application and post a photo. All following photos should appear in that newly created album, including those you post from the Picasa application.

Update: The problem has been fixed such that all future photo uploads should go to the most recent web album created for that blog. We are still working to correct people who have been affected by this bug.

MultipleCommentsModerated

If a blog has comment moderation enabled and receives multiple comments in the same minute to different posts, some of those comments will not appear in the comment moderation list, though they will be counted on the Dashboard as needing moderation. These comments will also not appear on the blog.

The comments have not been lost, and we will be fixing this in the near term to prevent it from happening again. At that time we will also recover the past missing comments so that they can be
moderated.

Comment feeds are not updating correctly for blogs with many comments. The feeds instead only show the earliest comments. A temporary workaround is to add pagination query parameters to the feeds to get the latest comments.

Update, 3/4: This has been fixed. Comment feeds should now show the recent comments for a blog or post, regardless of how many total comments the blog has.

PicasaBlogThis

The initial release of BlogThis! from Picasa to the new version of Blogger in beta has the following problems that we are working to resolve as quickly as possible:
  • If you are signed in as a Blogger user, sign out, and then sign back in with your Google account (to post to the beta), you will receive an error. The work around is to close the window and repost from Picasa (signing in with your Google account).
  • There is no sign out link if you are logged in as a beta user. The workaround is to exit Picasa.
  • Posting multiple large images sometimes results in the photos not being uploaded properly. The best workaround for the moment is to use the Blogger edit post form to upload the images.

Word 2007’s new Blogger support does not currently work. We are working closely with the Microsoft Word team to fix this.

Update, 2/1: This has been fixed.

Wednesday, January 31, 2007

Accessing new Blogger at beta.blogger.com and uploading an image via the posting form will result in error code bX-68tbuv. Until this is fixed, the solution is to go to www.blogger.com and log in there, which will redirect correctly to www2.blogger.com for new Blogger accounts.

Nevertheless, update any old bookmarks that have beta.blogger.com to use www.blogger.com instead.

Update, 1/31: This has been fixed. Regardless, use www.blogger.com and not beta.blogger.com.

ArchiveTemplateNotSupported

The “Archive Template” feature, once available to long-time users of old Blogger, is not supported in new Blogger.

Friday, January 19, 2007

ClassicTemp20LabelsOnly

If you use a classic template, the labels pages will only display the last 20 posts for each label, with no link to view older posts. If you switch to a Layouts template, you will automatically get "older posts" links to go back through each set of labels.

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Some Blogger Mobile photos posted to the old Blogger will not appear if the blog they’re on is switched to the new Blogger and given a custom (i.e. non-Blog*Spot) domain.

Update, 1/18: This has been fixed. Blogger Mobile images now display as expected on custom domain blogs.
Some images uploaded to Blogger that used to appear on custom domain blogs may not be appearing. We are working to reverse this change.

Update, 3:45PM: This has been fixed.

FTPLogin530Error

Some users receive the following error message, when trying to publish via FTP "reason: 530 Login authentication failed". This error is specific to certain hosting providers (startlogic for example). The reason for this error that certain hosting providers are denying FTP logins from the Blogger server. The Blogger team is working on fixing this problem.

Thursday, January 11, 2007

PerLabelFeedsFTP500Error

Per-label feeds for FTP blogs give a 500 error when the label contains spaces.

FTPURLSettingInBeta

For FTP blogs, leaving the archive URL setting blank behaves differently than it did in the old version of Blogger, which causes some archive links to be incorrect. If your archive path is different than your main publishing path, you'll want to be sure to fill in the archive URL as well, rather than relying on the default. Enter just the URL of your archive directory, without a filename.
FTP blogs currently publish post pages even if the post page setting is set to "no." Until we fix this, feel free to delete these files from your server if you don't want them. (They'll be in /year/month/ folders in the same directory as your main blog page.)

Thursday, January 04, 2007

BlogThis! is not yet supported in beta (it won't accept beta login information). This applies both to the original BlogThis! link as well as the Blogger button on the Google Toolbar.

Update (9/12): This is now being worked on.

Update (1/4): This is now fixed. The BlogThis! bookmarklet and Google Toolbar button link to a login box that accepts either old Blogger or new Blogger (i.e. Google Accounts) logins.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

The “Flag for Review” button is missing from the navbar on beta Blog*Spot blogs.

Update, 12/4: The “Flag” button is now present in the navbar, though it has a bug that clicking “flag” once will toggle the button to “unflag” on all other Blog*Spot blogs.

Update, 1/3: The toggle behavior has been fixed.

Monday, December 18, 2006

Logging in with an old Blogger account to post a comment on the new Blogger is giving a “please try again later” error. Until we fix this, it may work to log in first at http://www.blogger.com/login.g, and then go to the comments page on the new version of Blogger in beta.

Update, 12/18: This was fixed this past Friday.

IESecuritySettingHighCHTC

Users who have their Internet Explorer security settings set to “High” may have trouble logging in. After sigining in, they see a “Click here to continue” link that does nothing. One workaround is to right-click on this link and choose “Open in a new window.”

Monday, December 04, 2006

Comments posted with Blogger accounts or Google Accounts that have not signed up for the new version of Blogger in beta cannot be deleted by their authors. Update, 12/4: This was fixed some time ago.
Setting a blog's timezone to America/Sao_Paulo may cause errors in the new version of Blogger and on Blog*Spot. This is due to daylight saving time changes that lead to Sundays without midnights in the timezone. Other timezones that have Sunday-at-midnight daylight saving time changes will be similarly affected. Until we fix this, the workaround is to use a different timezone. Update, 12/4: This has been fixed. Please contact Blogger Support if you see any other timezone problems.
Blogs set to not appear on your public profile will not be listed in the Blogger GData metafeed of blogs. This will prevent them from appearing in 3rd party clients that use the new version of Blogger’s GData/Atom 1.0 API. Until this is fixed, you may be able to set your client to post directly to your blog’s “service.post” URL. Update, 12/4: This has been fixed.
Clicking on links in the navbar on Blog*Spot blogs with Internet Explorer 7 will open those links within the navbar. Until we fix this, the workaround is to right-click and open the link in a new window. Update, 12/4: This has been fixed.

LayoutsInSafari

Drag-and-drop customization of the new Blogger’s new template system (layouts) does not work in Safari, nor does fonts and colors customization. You must use either Firefox or Internet Explorer 6+ to use these features of the new Blogger. (They also work mostly with Opera 9, though with some visual glitches.)

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

FTP blogs are not publishing their site feeds in RSS format. Until this is fixed, either use the atom.xml feed instead (most feed readers that accept RSS accept Atom as well) or use: http://www.blogger.com/feeds/blogid/posts/default?alt=rss to get your blog’s feed in RSS format. Update, 11/21: This has been fixed. FTP blogs now publish an rss.xml file.

Monday, November 20, 2006

Some users are having problems accepting reader and author invitations on the new version of Blogger in beta, and see an error message when they log in to accept. While we sort this out, the workaround is to send the invitation to a different e-mail address. The invitee may still accept the invitation with whichever Google Account he or she wishes. Updated, 11/20: This is now resolved.

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

BloggerForWordBeta

The Blogger for Word add-in cannot post to or otherwise work with the new version of Blogger.

Saturday, November 11, 2006

Switching from current Blogger to the new Blogger in beta will cause your most recently updated 25 posts to appear as new in feed aggregators. Update (11/11): We have solved this. Unfortunately, the fix will cause all blogs currently on the new version of Blogger to appear as new in feed aggregators. We apologize for this one-time annoyance.

Friday, November 10, 2006

Currently the Blogger beta interface is only available in English. Update (9/12): This is a lengthy process, things are moving along. Update (Nov 2): The Blogger Beta is now available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. More languages will be coming shortly. Update (Nov 10): We've added Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and simplified Chinese support to the new version of Blogger.

Thursday, November 09, 2006

Some blogs configured with a non-english language cannot be displayed. We are working on this issue. A workaround is to change the blog's language to English until the issue is resolved.

Update: These blogs are displaying in English now. We are working on a fix to display them in their intended language and will have this available ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

Update(11/9): We resolved this last Friday.

Thursday, November 02, 2006

FTPNoLayoutsFeature

The new drag-and-drop template feature, Layouts, is not available for blogs published via FTP. Update, 12/18: Because Layouts relies heavily on new Blogger’s dynamic serving of pages, this is unlikely to be supported soon if ever.

Friday, October 20, 2006

When using Internet Explorer 7 (RC1), pressing the Enter key does not submit login forms on the new version of Blogger. Until this is fixed, the workaround is to click the “Sign In” button explicitly. Update, 8/20: This has been fixed.

Thursday, October 19, 2006

MultiplePhotos3MB

Uploading one or more photos with a total size over 3MB will not work due to a limitation on our servers. Instead, users will see "The page cannot be dislayed" or "The connection was reset" error messages. A workaround is to upload one photo at a time or shrink photos larger than 3MB.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

In some cases, the “Older Posts” link at the bottom of a blog’s main page is not working or causing a JavaScript error to appear. Update (10/11): This problem has been fixed and "Older Posts" should work as expected.
A problem in our system has caused a few blogs to display Server Error pages (error code 502). We are working on resolving this issue. Update (10/11): This issue has been resolved.

Sunday, October 08, 2006

Some users who have switched their blogs from the previous version of Blogger to the new version in beta are seeing 404 file not found errors on Blog*Spot. We have identified the problem and will be rolling out a fix shortly. Update, 6:21PM: This has been fixed for some of those affected. We’re continuing to look into remaining problems. Update, 7:44PM: We believe we’ve sorted this out for the remaining cases. Apologies to all!

Thursday, October 05, 2006

On the Page Elements page, sometimes after rearranging the page elements,
the save fails with the message 'An error occurred. Please try again'. This will be fixed shortly. The workaround is to click on the "Fonts and Colors" subtab, then click on the "Page Elements" subtab, and try again. The problem will be fixed shortly.

4PicLimitPicasa

There is a 4 picture limit when posting from Picasa. If you select more than 4 pictures, only the first 4 will appear in your post.

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

The http://*.blogspot.com/atom.xml Atom feeds are returning an “Invalid request URI” error. A temporary workaround until we fix this is to use the http://*.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full URL. Update (9/26): This has been fixed. atom.xml feeds will now send an HTTP redirect to the feeds/… URLs.
If an invitation to read a blog is sent to an e-mail address that is already a Google Account login, that invitation cannot be claimed by that Google Account. Workarounds are to send the invitation to a different e-mail address, or claim it with a different Google Account. Update (9/26): This has been fixed.
The link to a blog’s comment feed is not displayed on the blog page. Clarification (9/8): This only applies to blogs using Layouts. If you have a classic template, you can use these tags to display the link to your comment feed. Update (9/26): This has been fixed.
If a user has a Google Account but hasn’t signed up for Blogger with it, and they get invited to a blog, they may not be able to post to it. The fix for this is to go to beta.blogger.com and explicitly sign up for Blogger from there. Update (9/26): This has been fixed. The workaround is no longer necessary; new authors will be prompted to sign up for Blogger when they accept the invitation.
The Feed Item Footer setting (in Settings | Site Feed) does not add anything to your site feed. Update (9/26): This has been fixed.

Friday, September 22, 2006

Blogger Mobile is not available on the beta, and you cannot switch to the beta if you have a mobile blog. Update (9/22): We have added Blogger Mobile to the new version of Blogger in beta. Read the announcement. To create a new mobile blog on the new version of Blogger, send an e-mail or MMS from your phone to go@alpha.blogger.com.
Comment feeds are only showing the earliest 25 comments, and pagination (the start-index parameter) does not work. Update (9/12): We are working on a fix. Update (9/22): This has been fixed.

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

Users who have switched to Blogger in beta will not be able to login to comment on blogs that have not switched. Commenting using the “anonymous” or “other” options will still work. Update (9/12): We have started working on making this possible, however the change is substantial and will take a little while before it is ready. Update (9/19): This has been fixed. You can use the “Sign in with your Google Account” link on the Blogger comment form to log in with your Blogger in beta account.
Users are seeing errors when posting comments with current Blogger accounts to blogs on the new version of Blogger in beta. Until we fix this, the workaround is to preview the comment before publishing. (You only need to preview once per account.) Update (9/13): This issue has been re-written to clarify the core bug and offer the workaround. Update (9/19): All fixed.

SigningOutGoogleAccount

Signing out of the Blogger beta or a Google Account in general does not sign out of blogs on Blog*Spot. This means that access controlled blogs are still visible even after the authorized account has logged out. The workaround is to close your browser when you’re done reading access-controlled blogs. This will clear the relevant *.blogspot.com cookies.
Labels aren’t (yet) supported for blogs using classic templates. If you want to use labels, you currently need to switch to a new Layouts template.

Update (9/14): You can now enter labels for your blog with a classic template. The labels will appear under the post body, and searching for labeled content works the same as for a layouts blog. However, there is no tag for adding all your labels to your sidebar. To use the sidebar labels widget, you'll have to switch to a Layouts template.
